In the search for the best way to reveal the social struggles in Northern Bohemia, a land cursed with open pit coal mines, this film unintentionally goes further and stops half-way to discovering the “root of all evil”: man himself. It’s amazing to see how people open their heart in front of the camera. I loved the eloquent discourses held by all characters, the simplicity of their philosophy, emerging from real life experience.

After seeing this movie I’m not exactly thrilled about the way I’ve spent my last hour and a half, given the narrow-mindedness of pretty much everyone interviewed. It’s amazing to see how we people hold in ourselves so much ignorance, hypocrisy, hate, self-indulgence and fear of cerebral debates that might shatter our false beliefs especially when dealing with words like God, Jesus or Muhammad, Apocalypse, Virgin Mary, Holly Book whether Bible or Qur’an, or anything alike related to Religion. I guess when one believes, one doesn’t think.
